This would be the first part of my Internship Journey. My internship is from 14 September 2015 up till 26 February 2016. Now it has been 2 months since I have been in Sports Singapore.
This post shares my journey for the first half (or 3 months) of my internship which would mean from September till end November.
Before I start about my journey as an intern, here's a picture to bid farewell to one of the coolest place I've ever worked at... Shangrila Hotel. I worked at The Line for about 5+ months and it was so nice because of the people. I guess Sharlini was right. The people you work with does determine how you feel at your job and also sometimes the sweet and new customers you meet who can be so interesting.
Well...
Goodbye to you, dear Shangrila
This is just some of my colleagues and it would be real nice meeting them soon (Not in a work context though)

So internship. A bunch of us (DIEM students) were assigned to work with Sport Singapore. We were really stoked as we had some company. This was us after our last IIP briefing and first meet up with our Liaison Officer (LO).
My LO is Miss Louise Loh. Thing is, she was my Tourism & Travel Management faci for just the previous semester so it was pretty cool.
I was among the 5 students in the whole of SOH who got a chance to pick a company to work in. I scouted high and low for a wedding company here in Singapore. I was taken in by Fatimah Mohsin. I was truly excited. In the end, I got rejected as they wanted design students, so the TP students got their spots. Well, no regrets though.
Next, RP sent me to The Flying Dutchman. I was super happy as I thought it was the wedding sector. Little did I know it was actually the corporate side. All I was doing, was to be honest and gave my views on the corporate sector and showed my interests for the wedding sector during the interview.
At the end of it, the interviewer asked me, 'Do you know, you're actually here for the corporate side?'
Well, it may have been a cringe worthy moment but honestly, I did not regret what I said as all I was doing was to be honest. So, no corporate job in the end? Great! Better for me actually.
Lastly, I was posted to Sport Singapore. My interview was via the phone. The pay wasn't that much (considering I had friends who made $850-$950 during their internship) but... I liked it A LOT.
#1 It is in the events field
#2 It is Sports related, so it's something new
#3 I would be given a chance to change and try out new things from the event, 8th ASEAN Para Games (APG) till ActiveSG.

So, in the Games HQ where I worked - The APG squad, I grew pretty close with former friends, Farah & Lynnette. On top of that, I met a girl who was from Mass Comm and we all clicked. She was none other than Xiao Hui a.k.a Klaire Pok! Hahahaha
By end of October, I was shifted and joined the Command & Control Team. I still am focusing on the show aspect as compared to the operations aspect but what I am doing has a lot to do with the coordination, movement and venue. Okok, I'll not bore you with all these jargon.
The people here other than the 3 names I have mentioned:
There's Jack also from DIEM
Odi who's from Mass Com
The Interns: Sam (former RP student and valedictorian), Shafiqa (Queen of Sass), Fiona, Raymond, Daniel, Raj, Ming Han (Blondie).
My OCC team
Husien, my supervisor, well now former. He is this hunky, overly muscular guy who comes to the office with shirt, shorts and shoes. In the office, he's wearing slippers and socks. (I know, a fashion crime!) He is super healthy. His lunch can be salad. He snacks on fruits and nuts and cheat days are days like a smoothie. His super chiseled too. Yup, no one would believe he was my supervisor. HAHAHA
Eddy. The first guy in Sport SG to give me something to do. My first 2 weeks here was spent watching Nicholas Sparks movies!!!! Hehehe. Might I add, the ONLY person whom I know who's more sassier than the Sassy Queen, is Eddy! He left in October and I miss him. All the best to you though Eddy.
My C&C team
Roysten. He is the MOST nicest and fun supervisor. I love that he's really super chilled and easy-going.
Wei Hua: She is one fiesty woman but at the same time the nicest. Too bad I'll only have 2 months with these people. No regrets as I will be going over to Active SG starting Jan but I wanna make the most out of it here now.
Amanda: A temp staff who I am SUPER JELLY about as she just returned on a 2 month vacation. Yup, she did semi-backpacking all around Europe!!! She's so talkative and hyper.
Nasiree: She's more to the shy side but she's super sweet and fun. I swear this girl has a crazy side that she chooses to reveal only when she's comfortable with people.
Our lunch breaks is usually spent eating and also playing pool (initially spearing) or table tennis (initially badminton). I started trend of tapaoing lunch and it stuck on for quite some time. Well, I still bring lunch to work almost everyday actually.
The people here are all so nice. From the CEO, to the heads, my supervisors, colleagues, and even the security uncles and cleaner aunties, They are always greeting you with a warm smile and it's just a nice environment to be in.
There was once KFC was giving out free burgers from 11. It was the new Caesar Roast Chicken burger. I dragged Lynnette & Xiao Hui and we were lucky enough. Our numbers were 43, 44 & 45. And the free burgers were capped at 50. So we got them.
2 of the cleaners came a lil late and since we only went for the experience and after all we all had our home food, we gave 2 of the burgers to the aunties and split the last one amongst ourselves. It tasted good but KFC to me, well my fav would still be Cheese Fries, Mashed Potato & Curry Rice Bucket.
On Fridays, we usually end at 4. I wanted to watch The Intern with of course the interns during our internship. It was the most apt timing. In the end, it did not happen and we ended up at The Cathay and had Astons instead.
It's November now and I have still yet to watch the movie. Like OMG!!!!
Gym!!!!
Sports Hub is EXPENSIVE! Each entry is $8. Yup, that's like $6.50 more than an average neighborhood gym. Moreover, we have to pay $50 for yearly membership. Since we are interns, the $8 is waived off till our internship ends but we still have to pay the $50.
I was really considering it and then in the end I Farah decided to take it up with me. Yay! I've got a gym buddy and she's my Boo Boo! She and I will drool over anything hot. From Victoria's Secret, Gigi Hadid, to the butt of Nikki Blacketter. Hahaha
This was Day 1
Squats - Second time with a barbell. My first time gymming, gosh! I was such an amateur. Now i am learning. And I hope to keep on improving. Strength, Speed, Stamina, Balance, Flexibility, Endurance, Toneness and everything.
When Farah does not come to work, I go for my normal runs at the 100 plus Promenade track.
We have to get used to working weekends. One of it was a roadshow, through which I was able to learn so much. It was on the 24th & 25th October at Marina Sqaure. We were asked to promote the reindeer walkathon / wheelathon along with a carnival that was to take place on the 14th of November.
On that day, there was power lifting, 2 para athletes, Kalai Vanan (he is majestic, tall, authoritative, friendly) & Melvin (really sweet, smiley, and kind) were "mentoring" the weight lifters in Singapore along with some members of the audience.
We were given vouchers for our lunch. I was assigned with Boo-Boo and Xiao Hui was doing the Gift-A-Nila booth with Lynnette. They had to get members of the public to sew and decorate a heart which were to be given to the athletes. As for Farah and me, we were not only doing the promoting but also in charge of the game booths. Like the ones you play in the arcade, and even the hammer where you hit as hard as you can and try to hit a bell on top etc...
As for food, Farah and I had McDonalds for Day 1 for lunch. I had a McSpicy meal and we just HAAAAADDDD to upsize so we could get the seaweed shaker fries. It was also about time for us to try the new McFlurry. This time round, it was Mocha with Caramel biscuits. It was okay, not extraordinary. After that I even packed McCafe items which was the Darn Good Brownie & Cinnamon Melts. Well, it was free after all.
The next day, we had Qiji for lunch and for dinner, we ended up being given $20 each instead of $10, so Farah, Jack & I went to Manhattan Fish Market while Lynnette & Xiao Hui later on went to Bingsu. I still have yet to try it!!!
Melvin, was the sweetest and kindest as he opened 100 plus cans and offered it to the people who just finished their heavy bench presses.
I simple am loving Kallang Wave Mall. During the WTA, there were even swings made out of tennis balls as the seats and I simply had to give it a try. During a media brief, when I was still under OCC, Shafiqa and I had some time to kill and we went around Kallang Wave Mall and I fell instantly in love with H&M especially the Balmian new collection which is spectacular. The price though! HOLY COW!
But, the outfits, especially since it's the winter season, are all really lovely. Pullovers, Jackets and can I add, leather is back! I really wanted to get the leather tights! It had such the Grease vibe. The party clothes and Christmas colors looked amazing with all the greens, reds, pleats and checkered stuff. I even had time to window shop that day I found my dream fuzzy socks! It was PINK!!!! GAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH
It was ultra soft and fuzzy. The only issue was the cost, which was $20.
For a very long time I have been looking for a place to stay as I did not wanted to overstay my stay. On November 8, I moved out again. It was a lil rushed, tough to adapt to especially emotionally and mentally, tedious, not the best timing as it was just before Deepavali but no better time than this.
Thank you to my friends who all helped me find a place to stay and did your best and responded to my texts. Thank you Mr,Lee for allowing me to rent a room in your lovely home. Thank you to my family for being supportive and even giving me quite a number of items. Thank you Sharlini for helping me build the Groupon cupboard and honestly thank you to both you and Aby for so so so much more. Thank you Asswipe for giving me your cupboard, food and so much more. Thank you to the guys for helping me move my stuff. Thank you to The NiggAPACHE for everything. A big thanks to everyone who helped me and I must say, when I enter my room and look around, this place is just filled with memories and the different people involved in my life. It's filled with my loved ones. Thank you. :') I really truly love each and everyone of you and am truly appreciative.
Why I mention the top part? Because finding for a house, going for viewings, sorting out finance issues, shifting, unpacking and all these took a toll on me, especially as it is during my internship. And for Royston to be so understanding that I am moving and for you to allow me to have taken a day off, THANK YOU!
Recently, 2 new temp staff joined us, Nasiree and Amanda. I have been through with Nasiree for quite a few things. From going for meetings together to having one meeting that ended at 9pm, to being lost together at SIS during our recce, to play around with walkie talkies during our MBS recce, to being treated for lunch and so on by Royston and others. It was just lovely.
Amanda as I have mentioned earlier on was the girl who came back from her holiday. She worked with Sport Singapore during Sea Games and now she's back again. Hopefully all goes well for her in LV with her new job after the Sea Games.
Nasiree and I had a blast as MBS ballroom had the vibe of a wedding with all the chandeliers and such
All in all, so far we have been treated to Suki-ya which is a Japanese & Korean Buffet place - I still love kimchi - Astons's Specialty where I ordered Black Pepper Chicken with Mac & Cheese and Fries, along with Apple Juice and also a Thai Restaurant where we had pineapple rice from the pineapple straight along with cod fish and some other things but cod fish was the most expensive dish on the menu.
When our team had to take over and be handed SIS for the bump in, there was a Chinese believe where you had to roll the pineapple across the hall and I find it strange but when I was tasked to do it, it was funny and fun! Hahaha
That was the same day we had pineapple rice but not the same pineapple. I was in charge of all the keys for SIS, yeap locker rooms, meeting rooms, artistes rooms. I was given a super huge task and I did not misuse it haha!
Now to conclude my first half of the internship post.
Recently, there was a soccer match between Singapore & Japan and Japan won. Papa was at the match. It was on a Thursday and Farah and I were wondering why there were so many people at stadium MRT as we went to gym that day. Tomorrow, 17 November, there will be another match, Singapore vs Syria. I know fans will be excited but I also know security will be tighter than ever.
With all these new terrorism threats, it just get me so scared. The recent one where I found out about Paris via the hashtag #PrayForParis was trending and so many people were talking about it and it was just devastating. Some people are saying Singapore is one of the next few target and I am scared as hell. Honestly, death doesn't scare me as much as losing my loved ones.
I know Asswipe will be on duty tomorrow. When your best friend is or potentially could be in danger, you get terrified. What scares me more is how small Singapore is and how a bomb will not kill 200 people, but way more considering our size. I am terrified. My family.. The NiggAPACH.. my relatives.. loved ones.. innocent people is just too much to think and worry about.
I know we have a strong security system here but I still can't help but just hope and pray with all my heart that not only Singapore but this whole terrorism shit ends.
STOP FUCKING SAYING IN THE NAME OF RELIGION, IMMA BE KILLIN MILLIONS.
1. NO RELIGION HAS EVER INSTRUCTED ANY ONE OF US TO KILL
2. STOP HATING ON MUSLIMS / ISLAM JUST CUZ OF A FEW SCREW UPS
3. LEARN TO LOVE & CHERISH YOUR LOVED ONES
4. BE A BETTER HUMAN, A BETTER PERSON
And with that, I hope my love ones are safe and happy and healthy. Please take care. Singapore, I really hope you prove your security's a really good, tight one.

This was me and Boo Boo and this was after I returned from Candy Empire and I managed to spend $2.50 on the King Size Cookies & Cream Milkybar! Say what?! Hell Yeah I Did!!!

Well, today is 16 November. It is exactly 17 more days till the opening ceremony and it keeps getting busier as it gets closer towards games time. I am not surprised but it can get tiring I tell you.
