9 / 11 / 2016

The blog title says it all. They said 9/11 would be a day that America would always remember. I'm guessing not just the 11th of September but 9th of November too. It's a sad day for anyone who isn't an idiot. We all know where this is headed. It is confirmed that Donald Trump is USA's new president. Barack Obama would officially be stepping down on 20 January 2017.

Where do I even begin with all of this?

I am just going to share extremely relevant points made by myself, my family, friends, and in fact people from all around the world who expressed their views on social media, even celebrities.

America, in its collective wisdom, has elected a vain, violent, ignorant, sexist bully as their President. Not everyone who voted for Trump is a racist, or a misogynist. But they did vote for a racist and a misogynist. They voted for a man who was happily, enthusiastically endorsed by the actual KKK. And who wouldn't even denounce that endorsement.

Trump voters saw him say he liked to grab women by the pussy, then watched as a dozen women accused him of assault, and they voted for him. They saw him present zero real ideas, change his mind constantly, and present no vision except to “Make America Great Again.” They saw him invent his own reality, repeat lies as if they were truths, and utterly dispense with basic civility.

There will be an endless post-mortem on how this happened. There is plenty of blame to go around. Start with the for-profit news business, who happily covered his rallies and hired his henchmen as talking heads. The media who equated Clinton’s emails with Trump’s litany of absurd personal, professional, political, and ethical failings.

The federal law enforcement agents who intervened, banana republic junta-style, into a democratic election with a made-up scandal. The Republicans and Democrats alike who treated him like a joke instead of flatly stating that he was a dangerous and unserious person. And the predominantly white people who looked at the toxic cocktail he had to offer and thought, “Sure. Sounds good.”

This was not a “working class revolt,” as was first reported. The data shows it clearly. This was a white revolt, and a male revolt. I am being now asked to have empathy for the Trump voters who feel left behind in the midst of changes to our world.

Why are those voters not being asked to have empathy for the women who are victims of the kind of misogyny Trump put on display? Where is their empathy for African-Americans and Muslim citizens and Hispanic citizens who are routinely victims of prejudice? Where is the empathy for non-white people who haven’t been “left behind” because they've never been able to catch up in the first place?

For eight years, people around the world, have been able to point to the President of the United States and say, “Be like him: thoughtful, intelligent, steady, nuanced, kind, a good husband and father.”

For the next four years, I fear people will have to say: “Do not be like him: rude, vindictive, callous, self-obsessed, and aggressive.”

For eight years, American parents have been telling their daughters that they can be anything she wants to be.For the next four (the next 50?), what if they end up telling their daughters that they can't be anything they want to be. They would have to really be cautious and even succumb to society's perceptions...until the cancer of misogyny is cut out of America forever, for good.

America has always survived its many disastrous political decisions. This feels like the most disastrous. I believe we can survive it. I am saying 'we' as, well, we can't just say, "Can Singaporeans just take a chill pill. Why are you even concerned? This is America's problem."

Do you want to know why?

Even if you're not American, you should be scared. Terrified, even. Because when America sneezes, the whole world catches a cold...USA has a big part to play in the world and we can't lie about that. And it fell in the wrong hands.

Who is elected as the president of the United States affects the entire world. People like me who is born a Muslim had plans since I was a child to travel there a lot and possibly even move there, would probably be thrown into the slumps upon entry. As of now, Trump is against the minorities... the blacks, muslims, LGBTQ and even females.

It does affect us and the world more than you people think and honestly, there is no harm to show a little more support. Can people start using their voices to raise awareness for the serious issues going on in the world? Not just the Internet, but the World is blowin up with who's ruling one of the most influential and powerful countries.

The problem is: this isn't just a political decision. It’s a clarion call to forces of white nationalism, anti-semitism, and fascism. I thought the country had progressed enough to shout down a man whose campaign was fueled only by fear and hate. It has not. Progress comes from empathy and inclusiveness. I will try to find empathy for the people who voted for Trump. But Trump voters have to find empathy for the people who, with very good reason, fear his Presidency. That is the only way forward.

I honestly want to thank God for 8 years with Barack Obama. He will go down in history as the greatest president the U.S has ever seen. I would not be surprise if 25 years from now history students are going to study the rebirth of hitler for their exams. To me, this is definitely the joke of the century. We shall be talking about the Stupidity of America for generations to come.

I'm not bummed over Trump winning. I'm more bummed that more than FIFTY percent of Americans voted in a man that preaches violence, hate and rape.

Trump claims that countries like Singapore,China,India & Mexico are stealing jobs from Americans, & vowed to stop the Trans-Pacific Partnership. When I went to Facebook and Twitter, this is what Singapore has to say:

"Congratulations to President-Elect Donald Trump! His candidacy took many by surprise. At each stage he defied expectations, and his journey has ultimately taken him to the White House. It has been a contentious, ugly election season, that has exposed a bitter divide in the American people. Many will celebrate this result, while others will understandably be surprised and disappointed. But like the Brexit referendum in June, Mr Trump’s victory is part of a broader pattern in developed countries – reflecting a deep frustration with the way things are, and a strong wish to reassert a sense of identity, and somehow to change the status quo. US voters have elected a President whom they feel best represents them. Singapore fully respects their decision. We will continue to work together with the United States to cultivate our strong ties."

This is from our Prime Minister, Mr Lee Hsien Loong's social media accounts.

Mr Lee can also state that in Parliament, he explained why the Elected Presidency must be multi-racial. The President is the most important unifying symbol of our multi-racial nation. He must represent all Singaporeans, and every citizen must be able to identify with him.

In January, Mr Lee has appointed a Constitutional Commission to do a review of the scheme. He claims that he's glad many people came forward to give their views. He would be adopting the Commission’s proposal to ensure that every ethnic community gets a chance to be President. They call it the “hiatus-triggered” model, which means:

i. Presidential elections will be open to candidates of all races. But if we have not had a President from a particular community for five consecutive terms, the next term will be reserved for a President from that community.

ii. The candidate in a reserved election must meet the same qualifying criteria, and will be as qualified as any other candidate who stands and wins in a non-reserved election.

This rule will ensure that our Presidents come from different races, as we work towards our ideal of “one united people, regardless of race, language or religion”.

This would just mean that Singapore is going to elect a Malay as the next President. I don't have any issues on that and I feel "Hey, why not?" To me, it's always great to have one of the minorities to rule a country. But Singapore isn't even thinking. Trump HATES and despises Muslims with every ounce of energy he has in him. Singapore is already one of his more hated Asian countries. PM Lee still wants to work with America, sure... but now what makes you think that Trump would want to work with a country whose president is a muslim?!

Goodness, it is extremely frustrating knowing all these, being at an age to understand and comprehend information like this. Having current and future millennials suffer due to the idiocy of the generations before us who are FUCKING narrow minded (not all of them but quite a large number) and just can't to be more open and accepting and voted for practically Doomsday!

 I can already see it.

"The next US President is....."

*commercial break*

This is an emergency broadcast system announcing the commencement of the annual Purge.

People in America making jokes like "WE WERE OUT HERE PRAYING FOR FLORIDA TO STAY SAFE FROM HURRICANE MATTHEW. LITTLE DID WE KNOW.,HURRICANE MATTHEW WAS TRYNA SAVE US."

Sure, it is funny but it is also sad. No religion ever thought or advocated us to be mean, bad, harmful towards mankind. Yet, people ostracize others who are not like them. Why is it that we can embrace snowflakes when each and every single one of them are different but when it comes to people, you expect cookie cutters and people to be moulds. The moment you are of a different, color, texture, shape, size...you get outcasted.

Now, America has voted for a guy who is known for bullying and being biased. Haish, well in the end, that's what this election is about. Do we participate in a politics of cynicism or a politics of hope?

#ElectionDay

This hashtag on Twitter brought about so much sadness, grief and honestly an upcoming possible world annihilation.

If I had offended anyone, I am sorry. I am just merely sharing my opinions and honestly a whole lotta people's opinions too. I can stand my ground with no hesitation that I am not the only one who feels broken that U.S.A has lost an amazing President and an admirable First Lady. Barack & Michelle Obama have been an exemplary couple and even raised 2 great kids. The entire family is by far the best family that has ever inhabited the White House.

The Obamas will be greatly missed and the world is going to face a crisis. Let's just cling to the hopes that somehow, Donald Trump actually manages to rule well. Even I can't seem to stomach the previous sentence. I've always wanted to go to the original Disneyland. I want to be able to fly to a white country without getting detained. With me having a Muslim name and having the skin color and features of a Black girl, makes me question and even fear so many things and hope that many other people out there who are like me would be given an opportunity.

Just because you're from a minority group, does not mean you are entitled to less. It sucks how much we have to fight for everything. Right now, it sucks more as we, women, can't even hold our heads up in this world when they name countries 'her 'and it's called Mother Nature not Father. When will racism end? Do we really have to wait till the world actually comes to an end to be in peace and not at war?

Life, is a really beautiful thing. It is filled with highs and lows and I believe that America made a mistake in voting for Trump. But I am also a believer that everything happens for a reason. As hard as it will be, I do have hope and faith that goodness will prevail and if that means fighting for it, I am not gonna be a quitter and not just give up and end up not pursuing my dreams, chasing after my goals and ambitions.

Get kicked and knocked down 7 times, get up and fight the 8th yea?

On this note, I'd like to end this post and for those of you who actually read this, thank you. For those of you who can relate, I am sending you all the virtual hugs and want to let you know that things will be fine. We will all have to work together to make it fine and be strong and to never lose our willpower. For those of you who do not agree with this content, let's all agree to disagree. Lastly, for those who hates me and think I'm a prick and just want to start a fight, well I am not really interested.

This is my platform to share my own opinions and views. Feel free to hate. It is a free country, or so we think. Welp, thanks for reading and may peace be upon all of us.
